First Plumeria Flower

Posted in Plumeria by Lzyjo on December 24, 2008

I was overjoyed to find my very first plumeria flower had opened over the night.

My lovely Orange Blossom Special was thrown in as a freebie, by Marlene at The Plumeria Gallery. It just a coincidence that there is also a country song, written in the 1930s, about a deluxe passenger train called the Orange Blossom Special that traveled between New York City and Miami. The fragrance is wonderful, like roses with the sweet spiciness of orange blossoms. This plant had an inflo blooming when it arrived in the mail last October. It was much paler, more of a white and yellow with less pink. It only had a couple of roots when I planted it and even so it’s the first plant blooming this year. I can hardly contain myself.
